2007 has brought many changes and growth for Naturally Well, and myself. I have facilitated at retreats, taught yoga for Nicky while she was away in India, added a "Yoga for Men" class (now entering its third running), a prenatal birth partner class, and diversified my service offerings.
2008 brings the addition of offering an Introduction to Natural Health and Wellness class.
FYI: Did you know that in addition to Shiatsu, Specialized Kinesiology, Massage (Tui Na), and Acupressure, I also offer some other related therapies.
Cupping: This is a Traditional Chinese Medicine therapy that involves the use of suction or vacuum cups on the acu-points and meridians. They vary in size, and can be used stationary, or moved along the surface using oil. Cupping opens up the energy channels, and can work very deeply into the body. Some studies have shown effects as deep as 10cm. Cupping can be used stand alone, or added to many of my treatments. It is often very effective at relieving stubborn muscle pain, cold and flu symptoms, joint pain, and swelling. Not just for pain cupping also has some great cosmetic uses. Cupping is very effective at helping your body with cellulite, stretch marks, and scar reduction. The cups I use are medical grade plastic with a manual vacuum pump to activate them. Moxibustion: This is a Traditional Chinese Medicine therapy that involves the use of Moxa (Chinese Mugwort Herb) in stick or wool form. The Moxa is used to warm specific acu-points to address specific symptoms. Studies have shown that use of Mugwort as opposed to other heat sources is statistically a stronger therapy. The Moxa is applied indirectly to warm the point by bringing the glowing stick close to the point, or directly by burning the wool form on a slice of ginger, or bed of salt directly on the point. Note that the treatment never gets warm enough to burn your skin. Moxibustion is effective in dealing with pain, cold related conditions, damp conditions, menstrual/menopause symptoms, and headaches. Moxibustion is also very (85-90%) effective as safe natural way of turning breach babies. This method has been used for thousands of years in Asia, and is now being used daily in many western hospitals. Click Here for more information.
